The company Loops Cloud Computing is used as a case study in the subjects of Innovation and Business Strategy, as an example of business transformation.
The first key of its strategy is based on knowing observe and understand How have market needs changed?.
Loops operates in a B2B marketplace (Business to Business), as a computer systems integrator. Its activities cover six areas: Infrastructure-connectivity, cybersecurity, Unified communications – video conference, Datacenter – cloud, Software – digital transformation, and engineering projects.
The great change in the market has been understanding that its customers (CIOs and CTOs of companies) have encountered an environment in which all businesses depend on information technology. For example, the factory that previously depended only on raw materials and electricity, now if the plant control computer systems fail, the production chains are stopped. Added to this change is the explosion of IT needs in companies, since the advent of IoT (Internet of Things) to the need to digitize all company processes. And if all this were not enough, cybersecurity has imposed an extra challenge for those customers.
That new environment makes the new CIO (Chief Information Officer) and the CTO (Chief Technology Officer) cannot manage all the new needs in the classic way, following best practice manuals such as ITIL (Information Technologies Infraestructure Library).
The second key of its strategy is based on create a vision they call The Manifesto, which is a declaration of principles and intentions.
An example of this Manifest is the statement that Loops does not install a switch, Loops makes the switch disappear. Then they explain it in detail., where on the one hand the traditional method in which the CTO must think and define how the team should be programmed is explained, transfer it to the supplier and check that it is okay, and then check that the new firmware and security updates are applied. And then the Loops method is explained, in which they proactively make a configuration proposal, are in charge of their monitoring, maintenance of security patches, etc. "We make life easier", explains Alexis Fuentes, client account manager.
The third key of its strategy has been to standardize procedures that make this vision possible.
This methodology includes among the Rainbow Series, a set of procedure manuals that are labeled with different colors (Blue Book on Customer Service Procedures, Green Book on best practices for team scheduling, Red Book on Partner Ecosystem Engagement, black book on strategy, etc). For example, and related to the above, the Pink Books define a series of plans (engineering, setting, deployment, contingency, documentation, test plan, And training) that allow us to materialize the vision of “making the switch disappear”.
As a case study, This strategy is analyzed in three steps (look, create and deploy), carried out has meant a sustained growth of the company with good results in all indicators (billing, Benefits, customer satisfaction, image in the market).
